At  Targeted Solutions, we don’t just create visuals—we craft experiences that communicate values, vision, and purpose. One of our recent projects for Scott County Schools in Georgetown, KY was a perfect example of this kind of meaningful design work.

The Challenge: Turning Vision Into Visuals

Scott County Schools approached us with a powerful framework they had developed called the “Profile of a Learner.” It’s a holistic model that outlines the key traits they want to see in every student who passes through their system—from kindergartener to high school graduate.

These traits include:

  • Effective Communicator

  • Accountable Collaborator

  • Creative Problem Solver

  • Compassionate Citizen

  • Adaptable Learner

  • Responsible Leader

Each one was packed with detail and intention—but the district needed a way to present it in a clear, engaging, and accessible visual format that could be used across print and digital platforms. That’s where we came in.

The Design Process

We started by sitting down with school leaders to understand the heart behind this framework. What did these learner traits mean in real-world terms? How did they interact with each other? What kind of impression did they want to leave on teachers, students, and parents?

From there, we built a multi-point star motif that rotates around the Scott County Schools logo—a visual metaphor for how each trait works together to shape the whole student.

Each point of the star highlights a different learner trait and is color-coded for distinction. Inside each section, we embedded icons and bold typography to reinforce the trait title, paired with concise bullet points that speak directly to the skills and behaviors that define it.

We made sure the layout was:

  • Professional, yet approachable

  • Clear at a glance, but detailed enough for depth

  • Flexible for use in web, print, presentations, and classrooms

The Outcome

The final result is a clean, vibrant, and purpose-driven graphic that now serves as a central identity piece for Scott County’s mission. It’s not just something nice to look at—it’s a teaching tool, a branding element, and a daily reminder of what student success looks like in this district.

Whether it’s hanging in school hallways, featured in staff meetings, or shared online with families, this graphic brings the “Profile of a Learner” to life.
